The archaeological project of Tell Halula is incribed in the international campaign of site salvage in the Eufrates Valley threatened by the construction of the Tchrine prey.

The study and the excavation of Tell Halula's old town constitutes from 1989 a Spanish contribution to the international operation for the recovery of the archaeological Patrimony threatened by the construction of the future Tichrine damming in the high Valley of the Eufrates (North of Syria).

Its realisation is possible thanks to the facilities given by the General Address of Antiques and Museums of the Arab Republic of Syria. And for its inclusion in the archaeological performances program abroad of the Spanish Ministry of Education and Culture, through the General Address of Fine Arts and Files (The Spanish Historic Patrimony Institute) and by the DIGCYT 93 - 0903 and 96-1126. The Spanish Agency for the Co-operation (AECI) through the Contemporany Arabian World Institute, contributes in the investigation. The Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (Departament of Social Anthropology and Prehistory) does the realisation.
